Coastal Swim Academy
Coastal Swim Academy was founded out of passion, mission, and tragedy. In 2007, one of Emily Tougleson’s 14-month-old twins accidentally drown. While processing that tragedy, Emily found ISR (Infant Self Rescue), a national program that teaches infants how to float and survive in the water. From the time she experienced ISR for herself, Emily knew it was her mission to help children and families survive and enjoy the water.
Emily started on a path ten years ago, which has lead her to become a Master ISR instructor and trainer who has taught hundreds of children to swim and float. Emily knew she could reach more children by opening her own indoor facility. As a result, she has established Coastal Swim Academy.
Emily knew the program, and had the clients, but needed someone to help her bring Coastal Swim Academy to life with full branding - logo design, creation of a branding kit with taglines to help the website developer, brand photography and marketing materials.
Case Study - Logo & Design
I meet Emily while she was teaching my youngest son to swim and float. While we were talking, she mentioned she was getting ready to open her own facility and was trying to design her logo. I said I would be happy to help.
After our initial discussions we determined that Emily wanted:
A friendly mascot that appeals to kids
Colors of Navy, Teal, and Orange
Logo needed to be easy to read with Coastal and then Swim Academy
With these parameters, I designed four very different logos to determine what worked and what didn’t in the logos. The hardest part was designing and finding Finnley - the new orange mascot - who is friendly and appealing and simple!





Marketing Material.
What started as an idea, grew into reality as we started to put the new Costal Swim Academy logo on marketing materials. Emily created shirts and I designed printed collateral too.

As Coastal Swim Academy emerged from a dream to a reality, Right Time Branding assisted with messaging and creating a cohesive look and feel for the new company. Designing a logo that Emily and her employees can be proud of, and marketing materials that are clean and precise to spread the passionate message that Coastal Swim Academy was founded on. As the new facility is built, Emily is watching the colors, mascots, and logos shape her dream and create an inviting place where she can help children and infants find a love of the water and learn safe life saving techniques.
